Congratulations to Jeff A, the January 2016 100% Award honoree.  The award celebrates EAD | CFAH Athlete Malaika Corsentino who gave 100 percent to her training, even while undergoing chemotherapy and radiation for Glioblastoma.

Jeff joined EAD | CFAH in October 2014, inspired (and perhaps not to be outdone?) by the progress made by his wife, Nina. You’ll usually find Jeff in the 9:30 a.m. CrossFit or Noon Strength & Conditioning class, holding court with the crew who affectionately describe themselves as his “CrossFit Wives.” The moniker stems from Jeff’s early days when he was the only male in class (no longer the case).

A trio of Jeff’s “wives” — Angie L, Ann Marie N & Magda — nominated Jeff for the 100% Award, citing his commitment to improve himself and those who train with him. Magda notes that Jeff’s “dedication to cheer, encourage, swear at, and congratulate every athlete in his class” is key. In a separate nomination, Ann Marie N describes Jeff as someone who is “committed to doing everything in his power to be the athlete he wants to be.” As he does, says Ann Marie, Jeff “is making us all better,” and that he is the “epitome of commitment to a better self.” Another nominator, Angie L, recognizes the incredible performance improvement Jeff has made since starting; you’ll regularly find Jeff’s scores atop the WOD Whiteboard, or in the top three finishers on the Challenge Wednesday workout. “Jeff has made such great progress since he started and now finishes with such good times. He never slacks on pushing himself. I’ve never seen Jeff go for a lighter bar because he’s having a tough day.”

The EAD | CFAH Performance Coaches concur.

“Since I’ve started working with Jeff on Performance Fueling, he’s put in some serious work, and is down about 22 lbs. as his workout performance has improved drastically,” reports Coach Jason. Coach Kate appreciates that Jeff, a swim coach, works to “bring what he’s learning into his coaching.”

The 100% Award honoree will be selected from nominations submitted by EAD | CFAH athletes and evaluated by the performance coaches. The nomination deadline is for the February 100% Award is Monday the 29th. Email Coach Karen with the athlete name and a quick sentence or two describing how the nominee demonstrated commitment, consistency, camaraderie, community building, and / or the willingness to accept challenge.
