Tired of the same old area 5k races? Have we got the event for you. Join Team EAD / CFAH for the 2nd annual Salute, Inc. got freedom? Tactical Challenge, Sunday, May 26. Tactical Challenge participants will run (or walk) the got freedom? 5k, peel off the main course, and complete a CrossFit WOD before re-entering the run course to cross the finish line. Prizes and bragging rights will be awarded to the fastest overall man and woman, plus the top team. The team score will be the combination of the two fastest men’s and two fastest women’s times, last year turned in by EAD / CFAH athletes Brian “Biggo” O, Kim G, Mary Kate and Austin. Vincent Tagare, Arlington Heights, just edged out Biggo for the Men’s title, and Lisa Veneziano, Fenton, MI, took the Women’s title.
The Salute, Inc. 5k got freedom? course is USATF certified. The race begins at Miner School at 8 a.m. and ends at Recreation Park. The $55 entry fee includes a commemorative event shirt. All event proceeds benefit Salute, Inc. The Tactical Challenge raised more than $3,000 to help area service people in 2012, a dollar amount event organizer Elite Athletic Development / CrossFit Arlington Heights would like to increase in 2013.
